a poem for super/human moms

I’m the one
Who understands your words when they sound like gibberish.
Who knows what you’re pointing to when you gesture vaguely.
Who knows when you’re hungry, wet or tired.
Who recognizes your cry and knows what each one means.
Super mom!
But what about when I fail?
When I don’t know what you want?
When your crying makes me feel like a total failure?
When I lose my patience and punch the pillow?
Human mom.
Humbled once more.
